How we rate family hotels

Hotels for Kids rates hotels against the details parents usually have to dig for themselves. A hotel is not marked as a good family stay just because it accepts children. We look for evidence that the stay works for real family travel.

What we look at

Our public hotel pages focus on five practical checks when enough information is available:

  • Pool score: shallow areas, shade, slides, splash play, lifeguard notes where published, and whether the water setup suits different ages.
  • Sleep score: family rooms, cots, bunks, connecting rooms, blackout, noise risk, and whether the layout works after bedtime.
  • Food score: kids menus, high chairs, breakfast practicality, kitchen access, allergy notes, and how hard meals are likely to be.
  • Space score: room size, storage, apartment-style layouts, laundry access, pram movement, and whether larger families have real options.
  • Location score: beach, theme park, transport, supermarket, medical, and family attraction access without punishing travel days.

How badges work

Badges are not decoration. They are shortcuts for a specific family decision. A kids club badge means there is evidence of a kids club, not a promise that every session is included or open to every age. A water fun badge points to real water play. Baby-ready, big-family fit, beachfront, and theme park access work the same way.

What counts as evidence

We prefer official hotel pages, hotel-submitted updates, tourism sources, booking partner data we are allowed to use, and parent feedback that can be checked against another source. Important claims, such as child supervision, kids club ages, babysitting, pool safety, fees, and room guarantees, need stronger evidence than a general marketing line.

What the score is not

The family score is not a star rating, a luxury rating, or a paid ranking. A simple apartment hotel can score well if it solves family logistics. A high-end resort can score lower if the child details are vague, seasonal, or hard to verify.

Corrections and hotel updates

Hotel details change. Kids club hours shift, pools close for work, room names change, and inclusions move in and out of packages. Families can send corrections through the contact page. Hotels can claim a listing or suggest an update through the account area. Important updates are reviewed before they change public family-fit guidance.
